WE TURN A BLIND EYE

WE TURN A BLIND EYE

As I read and study everything that pertains to my belief and faith in Jesus from scripture to newspapers, to articles on the web, to blogs, to books penned by true believers and false teachers alike I have discovered a number of things. At this point in time the main discovery that strikes me now is that the people following the Christian faith are in turmoil. Notice I did not say the scriptures, the founders of our faith, or Jesus’ teachings are in turmoil. The turmoil is within us, our Christian church, the way we bend and twist scripture to fit our agenda and the way we let society mold, direct and decide what we think is truth and the notion that absolute truth is passé.

Some of us (and being guided by our pastors and the best selling books written by them) have watered down and then added to scripture to such an extent that we have changed believing that we are to be living for Christ into believing in the next new experience, waiting for the next rush that comes from the new word that was heard from God that has never been spoken before. Scripture states that this is all false teachings, experiences, and ideas that come from Satan and his goal is to lead you away from the Truth (Jesus) and many of us are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Why do I believe and think the way I do? It is because of the garbage I see that is being written and then bought up, read and believed by “Christians” who don’t take the time to be like the Bereans and test everything, hold on to what is good and resist evil (Acts 17:11). I have friends that will talk about anything and everything except their faith, Jesus or the struggles that we as Christians are faced with today. I know people who will not discuss anything controversial and refuse to listen or discuss anything that they think is negative about their favorite pastor, Christian author or Christian organization.

Some people (and many pastors do not bring this up in their teaching) refuse to acknowledge or talk about scripture that may convict them. Such as;

Romans 16:17  I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. (Some people feel that avoiding them is not Christian)

Matthew 7:15-23 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. (You will not know they are wolves unless you make sure what they say is the truth- which is not being done in many churches)

Matthew 24:24. For false Christ’s and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. Behold, I have told you in advance.” (We are warned to watch out for this type of stuff but instead we accept it because it is a great experience)

2 Peter 2:1-3 “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies. (But we must continually be on our guard; 1 Corinthians 16:13-14)

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. (Many are ignoring the Gospel – the good news of Christ and what He did for us and have replaced it with more important things like experiences and he need for them such as; reading about the latest person that has died and gone to heaven and walked and talked with God, miracles of healings and raising the dead (that have not been medically proven), gold dust and gems falling from the sky (actually it has always happened in a building) and new words and prophecies coming from God that have never been revealed before. And the list of experiences could go on and on.

As Christians we are being lied to, tricked, conned, deceived, and led down a path that in the least is intrusive and will draw us away from the true Christ and at the deadliest, rob us of salvation.
This article may be a little difficult to understand for some. If so, be patient I will explain in more detail in the follow up article I will send out in the next week or so.

For the rest of you, think about what was said and see if you can relate to any of the points I have made. If you would like to share any thoughts with me I would be blessed to hear them (and they would not be published without your permission).

His servant,  Dennis
