A clear and present danger

A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER

The signs are here, the writing is on the wall, the proof is in the pudding, the sky is falling, the end is near, and we have been told. With these saying in mind, we Christians should be concerned with what is going on in the world as it relates to us, our future and what scripture calls on us to do about it. 

Who is going to be affected by this clear and present danger? The blind and deaf; they have eyes but refuse to see and ears that refuse to hear His Good News. Those who believe but only believe in false gods and idols which lead them to ruin. The so-called Christians who say they believe while all the time distort, manipulate, add to and delete from scripture, and try to make scripture culturally appropriate for today’s norms.  And finally Christians, who persevere, remain steadfast, are obedient, pass the test, and truly love the Lord and their neighbor (James 1:12, 2 Cor. 13:5, Luke 11:28, Mark 12:28-34). Everyone is going to be affected. 

What is this clear and present danger? Many of us are not ready for the end even though we think we are. We should live as if the end is near because it is. There is fulfillment of prophesy, the completion of His word and realizing that we have a last chance to make it right with Jesus, and for people to turn to Jesus and accept the undeserved gift of salvation before it is too late. (Consider Matthew 25:1-14) 

Most Christians know the scriptures that tell of the end times and what to expect. But, for those who may not know or need a refresher course, I have listed a few scriptures that explain what is to come. Matthew 24:6, 2 Timothy 3, 1-5, Matthew 24:13, 1 Timothy 4:1, Matthew 24:12, Luke 21:36, Mark 13:32, Matthew 24:14, 2 Peter 3:3-4. 

With the impending arrival of Jesus in His second coming we can also look to scriptures to find out what we are to do, how we are to present our lives as a testimony to our faithfulness, and what we are to abstain from before the time is here. Some of those instructions are as follows. Consider 1 Cor. 6:9-11, James 1:12, Gal. 2:20, Col. 1:10, Romans 12;1-2, Hebrews 13:5, Mark 12:30-31, Col. 3:23, 1 John 2:15-17, 1 Thess. 5:22, Col. 3:5, 1 John 1:7, Matthew 5:14-16. Are we following them?

What makes me so concerned for the retreating status of our country and for the Christian faith and how it is looked upon? If you watch the news programs and follow what is going on around our world and in Christian circles you will know what I mean. Sadly, I know many Christians who do not watch the news or listen to programs about what is going on because it is too much for them to bear and they do not want to hear it anymore.  

That is exactly what the other side, and Satan, wants us to do: stick our heads in the sand and just give up and let them have their way. Civically we can’t and Biblically as Christians we can’t do that either. I am not saying that the Bible tells us we need to become politically active. What I am saying is that Jesus tells us how to behave as Christians. When we do this, it affects all aspects of our lives: personally, within our family, and in our life as a citizen. I receive these beliefs from scripture such as; James 4:17, So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin, 1 Corinthians 16:13, Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong, and Ephesians 5:11, Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. I believe this advice is appropriate for use in our civic life as well.

It seems that many people have lost their minds, morals, and civic duty and it is a worldwide epidemic. As I stated, the proof is right in front of us and examples are everywhere, if we will pay attention. We see government officials will do anything to get votes including giving up high moral standards, catering to the extreme minorities, ignoring common sense and science, and sacrificing the innocence of children because of pressure from sick, unadjusted, selfish, and popularity seeking individuals. Pastors, denominations, and lay Christians are falling away from God’s truth to promote a different Gospel that is full of ‘name it and claim it’, prosperity seeking, the god they serve is love so he will accept everyone in all circumstances (no repentance required), and we are little gods so we can demand things at will – if we have the faith! Many Christians and non-Christians alike have abandoned the idea of a high moral standard which includes ignoring the thought of obeying God’s law and the laws of man, a child in the womb is not a child until they determine it to be so they are able to kill him or her whenever they please. And some are pushing to be able to kill the child up to 28 days after the child is born! We are also forced to accept teenage boys who identify as female, while still having a penis, being allowed to change and shower with teenage girls in the girls’ locker room. And the list of dysfunctional ideas and morals held by some could go on and on. 

What can we do to fight this trend? Fight back, pray, get involved at church and in the community so you can make your presence and moral standards known. And just as important, vote! Vote for representatives who believe in high moral standards and Godly principals, resist woke ideas and vote against their agenda and policies. Most importantly, don’t give up as we are told in Matthew 24:13, But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And James 1:12, Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
